John Green

“Perhaps, then, Colin ought to have accustomed to it, to the rise and fall of relationships. Dating after all, only ends one way: poorly. If you think about it, and Colin often did, all romantic relationships end in either (1) breakup, (2) divorce, or (3) death.”

-John Green, An Abundance of Katherines

Emulation

My fingers slide delicately along the smooth gravestone, tracing the outline of his name centered in the middle, I sit focusing straight ahead at the dark grey rectangle in front of me despite of the loneliness I feel now that he’s gone. The earth now separates us both between the dirt and the rocks. Within a matter of time he lays there long enough to decay. Eventually leaving none of him to remain, but the memories will always seem to stay.
